Police in Chicago said a 96-year-old woman's body was discovered in a freezer on the Northwest Side.

 On Monday afternoon, a 96-year-old woman's body was discovered in a freezer on Chicago's Northwest Side, according to investigators.

At at 4:33 p.m., her corpse was found in the 5500 block of West Melrose Street in the Cragin area, according to officials. She was discovered to be not breathing and was later declared dead.


When detectives were spotted removing what looked to be a freezer from the house, ABC7 cameras were rolling. They have not yet indicated if there was any wrongdoing.




Police stated that they are looking into a fatality but did not immediately offer any other details.
